About

Hey, I’m Kaviru

Cybersecurity Student | CTF Player | Builder

I’m an undergraduate focused on cybersecurity, with a strong interest in offensive security and hands-on learning.
Most of what I learn comes from actually doing — breaking things, fixing them, and understanding how they work under the hood.

This blog is where I document that journey.

What You’ll Find Here

  • 🧩 CTF writeups (TryHackMe, university competitions)
  • 🔍 Step-by-step walkthroughs of challenges I solve
  • ⚙️ Notes on tools, techniques, and exploits
  • 🧠 My thought process — not just the final answer

I don’t just post solutions — I break down how and why they work.

My Focus Areas

  • Penetration Testing
  • Web Exploitation
  • Cryptography (basic → advanced learning)
  • Networking & Security Fundamentals
  • Python for security tooling

Why I Write

Writing helps me:

  • Reinforce what I learn
  • Track my progress over time

I mainly write this blog as a memory aid for myself.

I tend to forget things easily, so this is my way of keeping track of what I learn and having a place I can come back to later. It also helps me see how far I’ve come over time, which matters a lot to me.

I’m not someone who learns well from just theory — I learn by doing. Because of that, I use this blog as a form of active learning: solving challenges, breaking things down, and writing about what I was thinking at the time.

I wouldn’t say I’m great at teaching, and I’m not someone who likes to write a lot. But I still try my best to explain things in a simple way, mainly to capture my own thought process as I learn.

I’m also not afraid to say this blog is mainly for me. There are many great blogs out there if you want polished tutorials or structured learning.

If this helps someone else along the way, that’s honestly a bonus.

Current Goals

  • Get better at solving real-world CTF challenges
  • Go deeper into exploit development
  • Build and share security tools
  • Contribute to the cybersecurity community

A Bit More About Me

  • I enjoy CTFs more than anything — especially when a challenge feels impossible at first
  • I like figuring things out from scratch rather than following guides
  • Anime + music + late-night debugging sessions = normal routine

Final Note

I’m still learning — everything here is part of that process.
If you spot mistakes or have better approaches, feel free to explore, question, and improve on them.
